skywatch friday

Sky? What sky?

A snap taken in downtown Cleveland earlier this week showing the Detroit-Superior Bridge - travel west on Detroit Avenue for about five miles and you will enter the city of Lakewood.

Looks pretty bleak and foggy! Good capture.

As I was looking at your snap I looked up at the TV, which had the Weather Channel on and what is on but just about the same picture of the bridge you have on the snap today.
Do they still have the fog horns going?

Fog horns were dismantled back in the 70's, Mike. Thanks to modern electronic navigation systems. But apparently, modern navigation hasn't prevented ships from hitting the Golden Gate Bridge or running aground in other parts of the world!

I miss that lonesome sound. What's interesting is when you are up close to a fog horn (like crossing the Golden Gate Bride on a foggy night) the sound is more like a large balloon flapping air! The familiar sound we know only resonates from a distance.
