As those of us who live here know, Lakewood is a very pedestrian and bicycle friendly city. About a year ago the city confirmed its commitment to bicycles and bike riders by approving a bicycle "Master Plan".
I have no idea if the bike racks in front of the Pink Lotus Yoga Studio have anything to do with the city's official plan; but I like them. Random acts of public art!
I'd like to applaud whoever is behind installing such colorful and creative bike racks. I hope individualistic, artful bike racks become a new craze for Lakewood. Who knows maybe there are a bunch of them up already and I just haven't noticed; but you can be sure I'll be keeping an eye out for more. Needless to say, I'll share my findings - you know how the Snap likes series!

Pink Lotus Yoga studio owner Marcia Camino did indeed install the bike racks this past fall after hearing about the city's master plan. One of her yoga students, 3D metal artist David Smith, designed the racks for her as a gift and also oversaw the installation. Terrific, functional public art.
